I have spoken with many schools of all varieties, and would prefer attending classes, but know how difficult commuting would be, even for mutiple-day intensives. Thanks for your replies.

Curious about what people's thoughts are on a tape that I have received and have placed onto my ipod and have been using. It is a series of "suggestion" sessions (hypnotherapy?) that is to help you work on your approach to your "whole body," memory recall and that CA Bar Examination. I used it while doing the WA Bar, which I passed, and found that, after the bar, I felt like I "missed" the voice in the sessions (Weird, yes). I have begun doing it again today for the CA Bar which is in about 10 days ... and fell "asleep". The only reason I use that term is because I am unable to tell if I am asleep or in another state, but I woke up approximately 10 minutes after the session ended - although this wasn't always the case when I did the sessions last time around.

Curious about anyone perceptions/thoughts on this sort of thing. Suggestions for increasing its effectiveness, etc. Thanks!

I have just met the love of my life and he is an amazing man. However, all my life I have dealt with low self-esteem which now has me battling jealousy. I am tormented by my own imagination and have spoken to him about it, which helps, but I still have stupid thoughts.
Whether I want to purge my jealousy or boost my self-esteem... is hypnosis an option?

I am now considering a career change into hypnotherapy, currently I am an engineer and although I make a decent enough salary, I want to help people more directly than building a missile defense system for the US. But I am also the primary "bread-winner" for the family so, before I even consider it further, I have some practical questions I'm hoping some of you will be willing to answer:

1. Can it truly help people? If so, what sort of problems is it most effective in relieving?

2. Does one typically open their own practice right off the bat, or is it more common to join an existing practice first?

3. What kind of income range can I realistically expect within the first 0-5 years? 5-10 years? (let's assume best case scenario in a metropolitan area, i.e. Denver)

4. What's the best way to get started?

Thanks so much for any input you're able to provide.
